It wasn’t pretty. With the entire Pennella clan misguidedly backing Denver (in a game that counted double), the italian stallions bore a similar ass-whipping as their Bronco brethren, losing the playoff challenge by a remarkable 23%. Even Barry Goldwater only lost by 22.5%.
Kris claimed the individual playoffs title, with an impressive 83% winning percentage. While Pete enjoyed a similar winning percentage, the title went to his mother, as she picked more games and the “I birthed you, I get the title” tiebreaker.
While we are happy for Kris and the Todaros, we frankly find her incessant cackling and demands for the website to be relocated to todaropigskin.com rather off-putting.
As the Commish desperately sought some mathematical solace for the lost season, he regressed into vintage HRG era mode to determine the secret to K’s 2013 season success. The west coast and anti-Texas bias associated with K’s picks has been previously noted. Well as it turns out, the six teams west of Texas achieved a remarkable 60% winning percentage against the spread (while Houston was the worst at 25%) , thus fueling K’s strong performance (despite her continuing belief that “the Spread” is that lame Amish country based reality show about bad ass quilters).
We can only hope that this statistical anomaly resolves itself next season and sanity is restored (and Pennella the Football picking robot can stop mainlining St. John’s Wort).
Congrats to the Todaros on their season of success. Stay classy, Orefield.

PS: The official length of the national anthem was 2:03. And yea, Kris won that too. Well, it actually was a tie with Claire, until Kris invoked the “I birthed you too” tiebreaker.
Well, my dear Pennella clan, I can only say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder –and I found this to be a beautiful football season indeed! And apparently there is some method to my madness (although I have to give a big shout out to the Commish for figuring out exactly what that method was, since I was a little unclear on that myself 😉 Thanks for the fun — and especially a big thank you to the Commish for the entertaining and high tech yet user-friendly mode of communication for this year’s friendly contest. Next year whaddya say we play for some big bucks?!
Love,
S.K.
