Week 16 Results: Pop rocks, Mikey chokes

In an eerily ironic recreation of the scenario that ultimately took down the Pop Rocks candy franchise in the early ’80s, Pop rocked and Mikey choked in week 16.

Pop claimed his first weekly win of the season when he won the tiebreaker over Special K by a single point. As such, we can now safely declare this.

Meanwhile, Mikey saw his title aspirations fizzle out with a 2-11-1 performance in a week where we sourced all his picks from a computer simulation betting site. Apparently, artificial intelligence omniscience is still a few years in the offing.

And while Special K did not win the week, she did move ahead of Chris and Clarke by mere tenths of a percentage point. Given that Mike lost 1.7% points in a single week that had but 14 games, the final results are still much in doubt with this week’s 16-week schedule.

Latest results…

Rock: 8-5-1, 47.0%, 1 win
Kris: 8-5-1, 53.5%, 1.5 wk wins
Zane: 7-6-1, 46.1%, 2 wins
C&C: 6-7-1, 52.7%, 7.5 wins
Pete: 6-7-1, 43.2%, 1 win
Mike: 2-11-1, 48.4%, 3 wins
Claire: DNP, 43.3%, 0 wins

Week 15 Results

Our favorite duo racked up yet another weekly title, despite winning but 7 games, as no one else managed a winning record, with Peter delivering a particularly ugly 2-11 week (but a sweet holiday party Friday night).

With their win, Chris and Clarke inched ahead of Special K by 2/10 of 1% in the overall standings.

Latest results…

C&C: 7-6, 53.1%, 7.5 wins
Kris: 6-7, 52.9%, 1.5 wk wins
Mike: 4-9, 50.5%, 3 wins
Zane: 4-9, 45.6%, 2 wins
Rock: 4-9, 46.1%, 0 wins
Pete: 2-11, 42.9%, 1 win
Claire: DNP, 43.3%, 0 wins

W14 Results

After taking two weeks off to let the other participants in the pool have a little glory, Chris and Clark reasserted themselves with a 10-win week, moving within percentage of points of Kris and the overall lead.

Zane not only moved out of last place, but moved within a win or two of catching Pop.

Latest results…

C&C: 10-5, 53.1%, 6.5 wins
Kris: 9-6, 53.4%, 1.5 wk wins
Zane: 9-6, 46.6%, 2 wins
Mike: 7-8, 51.8%, 3 wins
Rock: 5-10, 47.1%, 0 wins
Pete: 4-11, 45.3%, 1 win
Claire: DNP, 43.3%, 0 wins

W13 Results: It’s All About the Journey

Some will win, some will lose, and some will learn to sing the blues…

This season, like many others that have preceded it, continues to be a test of Lions fan faith with even popular game shows taking pot shots now.

Predictably, the Lions choked late against the Rams and failed to cover, costing everyone but Pete a win. Oh, the movie never  ends, it goes on and on and on…

Mike, thankfully no longer smelling of wine and cheap perfume since getting his life on the straight and narrow, persevered to claim the weekly win. So, Mikey, hold on to that feeeeeeeelaaahhnnn.

C&C’s mistaken belief of needing to pay someone to roll the dice just one more time (it’s a free pool, people!) kept them on the sidelines in week 13 (or maybe it was just techincal issues), preventing them from piling up another weekly win.

Kris, our favorite small town girl, (as she’ll tell you Bend once was a small town that didn’t even have streetlights, people) did enough to stay atop the heap.

And speaking of living just to find emotion, Zane, although still in last, upped his winning percentage to a season-high of 45.5%.

With four weeks to go, anyone, with the possible exception of that one guy who’s likely not going annnnnywhheeeerree, has a chance to win it all.

So don’t stop believing…

Latest results…

Mike: 9-5-1, 52.3%, 3 wins
Kris: 8-6-1, 52.8%, 1.5 wk wins
Zane: 7-7-1, 45.5%, 2 wins
Rock: 6-8-1, 48.3%, 0 wins
Pete: 6-8, 47.4%, 1 win
C&C: DNP, 51.7%, 5.5 wins
Claire: DNP, 43.3%, 0 wins

Peter took look one look at the subterranean environs Zane has been occupying all season and said “hell, no, bro” and ripped off an 11-win week to claim his first weekly win.

As a result of Peter’s big week, Zane now finds himself back in the basement, despite raising his winning percentage to a season-high 45%. And Rock finds himself now alone in not having won any weeks this season.

Meanwhile in the penthouse, far from the madding riff-raff, Special K remains on-top with C&C (who took the week off) right on her tail.

Latest results…

 Pete: 11-4, 47.9%, 1 win
Mike: 9-6, 51.2%, 2 wins
Kris: 8-7, 52.5%, 1.5 wk wins
Rock: 7-8, 48.8%, 0 wins
Zane: 7-8, 45.1%, 2 wins
C&C: DNP, 51.7%, 5.5 wins
Claire: DNP, 43.3%, 0 wins
